Information
The Niagara Windriders Kitefliers
Association was founded in 1992. The NWKA is dedicated to the enjoyment and
promotion of kite flying as an artistic and sporting activity for people of all
ages. In addition, our club works to generate an understanding of the use of
kites throughout history and in many cultures, their use as scientific
instruments, and their application as artistic expression in the
sky.
The Niagara Windriders Kitefliers
Association serves the geographic area of the Niagara Peninsula of Southern
Ontario, Canada; an area of approximately 2500 square kilometres. Through our
association with other clubs in Ontario, across Canada and in the United
States, we share information on kite building and kite flying
skills.
The club's primary flying field is
located at Lakeview Park on the north shore of Lake Erie in the city of Port
Colborne, ON. We extend our appreciation to the City of Port Colborne's Parks
and Recreation Deparment for permission to use this flying field by registered
permit.
The regular monthly club flying events are
held on the last Sunday of each month, April through October. Consult the
section on "Events" for more details on the regular club flying dates as well as
special festivals and flying dates of other clubs .
